Definition A generic term for a set of co-located conductivity, temperature and pressure (proxy for depth) sensors. The pressure sensor is generally used to ascertain the instrument Z co-ordinate in the water body, whilst the other sensors determine water temperature and salinity. Deployed on a range of platforms such as vertically lowered metal frames, towed fish, AUVs or moorings.
