| Definition | An autonomous, battery-powered sound velocity profiler that uses a "sing-around" sensor to measure sound velocity in the water column. It has a range of 1300-1500 m/s, an accuracy of +/-0.25 m/s and a resolution of 0.13 m/s. A built-in microprocessor enables samples to be logged at pre-determined depth increments or for changes in sound velocity greater than 1 m/s. The standard model has a depth rating of 1000 m but other options are available up to a maximum rating of 5000 m. The instrument is no longer in production. | ||
