| Definition | The Sea Data IES was based on the earlier designs of the URI-GSO IES dating back to the late 1970s to early 1980s. It is an ocean bottom-moored instrument that measures the time taken for an acoustic pulse to travel from the instrument on the seafloor to the sea surface and return. The IES can be equipped with an optional bottom pressure sensor. | ||
