Definition | Fishing gear designed to catch demersal fish. It consists of a long mainline set horizontally and weighted to the seafloor. A series of short branch lines with baited hooks are attached at regular intervals to the mainline. The mainline is attached at both ends to downlines which have a large buoy on the surface for locating gear, and anchors at the bottom to hold the gear in place. | ||
