Definition | A three-channel optical fluorescence and backscatter sensor with three configurable channels, capable of making multiple fluorescence and backscatter measurements simultaneously. The sensor is capable of measuring any three of the following channels: chlorophyll a, fDOM, phycocyanin, phycoerythrin, rhodamine, fluorescein, backscatter, and turbidity. The sensor features a high dynamic range permitting exposure to full sunlight with very low detection limits. A dry bay original equipment manufacturer (OEM) variant of the RBR tridente is available for vehicle integration applications. The instrument is compact, and depth rated to 6000 m or 1250 m (dry bay), with a titanium housing. Operating temperature range is between -5 to 35 degC. Sampling rate is up to 32 Hz. Centroid angle for optical measurements is 120 degrees, with a sensing volume of ~1.3 mL, R-squared linearity of 0.99, and calibration accuracy of 5%. Power requirements are 20 mJ/sample (at 4 Hz or slower) or 384 mW (at 8 Hz or faster). Output is RS-232. | ||
