| Definition | The Aanderaa ZPulse DCS series are single-point acoustic doppler velocimeters designed to be used with the Aanderaa SeaGuard platform to form a Recording Current Meter (RCM) in both commercial and research applications. The ZPulse technology improves the statistical precision by comprising several distinct frequencies into a single acoustic pulse. The 8 versions of the sensor (4420/4420R, 4520/4520R, 4830/4830R, and 4930/4930R) differ in output, depth rating, and the addition of an integrated temperature sensor. The respective R-versions operate with an RS-422 output for use as stand-alone sensors with long cables (up to 1500 m) and are incompatible with SeaGuard applications. The standard models operate with RS-232 or AiCaP ouput, the latter being compatible with the CANbus interface used by SeaGuard platforms and smart sensors. 2 depth-ratings exist across the DCS series: 300 m (4420/4420R, 4830/4830R) and 6000 m (4520/4520R, 4930/4930R). The 4830(R) and 4930(R) models include a temperature sensor that measures in the range of -5 degC to 40 degC with a resolution of 0.01 degC and a 0.1 degC accuracy. Vector Averaged Current Speed Range: 0 to 300 cm/s; Resolution: 0.1 mm/s; Mean Accuracy: +/- 0.15 cm/s; Statistic Precision (std): 0.3 cm/s (ZPulse mode). Current Direction Range: 0 to 360 deg; Resolution: 0.01 deg; Accuracy: +/- 5 deg for 0 to 15 deg tilt, +/- 7.5 deg for 15 to 35 deg tilt. | ||
